This project had it all. We created a 1,000 sf 2 bedroom, 2 .5 bath ADU placed in the corner of this lot and worked with a landscape designer to create this backyard oasis complete with Hot Tub, fire pit, BBQ area and several louge areas for a true backyard transformation.
(MY APPROACH)
We surveyed this site a couple time to make sure we had an accurate plan. The first survey included documentation of the backyard and slope area with dimensions and photos of the exterior parameter of the space to make sure we could do all the client wanted. Next we had a professional topography survey created. The yard has a large unusable area due to a severe slope up to the back wall. We made sure we had an accurate account of this since much of the slope would be moved to make the yard more usable.
(VISION & INNOVATION)
It is important to listen to the client regarding their with to transform their space. In a space this large you should create smaller conversation spaces for various activities. The end result makes best use of the overall space.
(CHALLENGES)
The slope in the back was an important factor in this design. We incorporated part of the retaining wall into the ADU to make the most of the space.
